A couple of weeks ago, I attended an all day transformation mapping workshop for Lean-Agile facilitators run by Agendashift, an organisation that has been started by Mike Burrows, author of Kanban From The Inside.
Most of the people attending the workshop had some familiarity with Mike's work and were involved in agile coaching or some form of organisational change management. As a designer, I felt a little out of place to begin with but it quickly became clear that one of the overriding principles of the Agendashift approach is that of clear communication and understanding for all. This was such a refreshing change from some of the jargon-laden frameworks that promise much but never seem to stick.
I especially liked the fact that none of the problem-solving tools and techniques used in the workshop were proprietary. They were all tried and tested an most of them were familiar to me from previous projects I have worked on although there were some concepts such as clean language that I wasn't aware of and I learned a lot more about the foundations of servant leadership. What was particularly unique about the Agendashift approach was the way in which they are linked together to form a causal chain of learning that is simple enough to learn and repeat in a systematic way.
I'd definitely recommend attending one - I learned a lot and felt that it provided a piece of the puzzle that has always been missing for me, particular when trying to scale up approaches to address more systemic, organisational issues.
