Cold in July

Great crime thriller that stays true to the source material of Joe R. Landsdale's excellent pulp novel. Michael C. Hall shows great commitment to his portrayal of an ordinary Texan family man in the late 80's, mullet and all, who accidentally kills an intruder in his home.

The twists are what this movie is all about so I won't spoil them but focus instead on the excellent casting of a grizzled Sam Shephard as the dead mans estranged ex-con father and Don (the don) Johnson as a cool Houston PI and part-time pig farmer.

A shout out to the excellent soundtrack aswell, that recreates the hard edged electronic scores of the best John Carpenter movies.
